Smiles is a luxury, high-end collectible Plushie inspired by artist Brent Estabrook’s Stuffed Animal oil paintings and bronze sculptures.
Smiles was entirely designed by Brent using his signature Plushie Pink and Mint Green colors and the iconic upside down head.
This edition of Smiles includes a special drawn-on tongue hand-embellishment and editioned foot done by Brent himself, and a special Gold Limited Edition tag.
Smile’s Story…
Smiles, the first Limited Edition Plushie from Brent Estabrook, was created so that Brent’s message of vividly-colored joy and offbeat creativity could get out into the world and inspire children and adults alike to reject societal expectations and do the things they love, even (or especially!) if it is a little bit wacky or weird ;)
Brent found his stride, and his fame, as an artist with his Stuffed Animal Paintings. But with Smiles, he found the perfect visual expression for his creative message.
As he was creating the oil clay model for the original Smiles bronze sculpture, he realized he had an opportunity to do something unique for his Collectors, and to challenge himself as an artist.
“I could see Smiles really becoming a symbol of being creatively different. There was this moment, a great opportunity to break the traditional expectations of what a teddy bear was and so I decided to sculpt the head upside down!… Smiles became my symbol, my Mickey Mouse if you will.”

After the sculpture, he decided to create a real Plushie, an opportunity for his Collectors to take home a piece of his that was more attainable than his famously hard to get oil paintings…
First, Brent digitally sketched the prototype. Then he sat down with Aurora World, a global leader in plush toys and high-quality gift products, to create Smiles.
Not only did he hand select the materials for Smiles, he sent customized oil paint swatches to Aurora so the pink and green of Smiles matched his signature colors perfectly!
Even the packaging is designed by Brent, inspired by a gift he gave to his wife, Tara, and uses his same signature Plushie Pink.
